Safety and undo
What the app never does
- Remove or widen a restriction a person set by hand (unless a rule's override is on, or you make a one-off bulk change yourself).
- Give access to someone the rule doesn't name, or open a page up, unless the rule says it may. (Taking back its own entries, from a page moved out of a rule's tree or when a rule is removed, can still leave a page open.)
- Lock you out of a page, or leave a page with only the app on it.
- Change anything while a rule is watching.
The preview
Losses come first, in sentences, grouped by person or group and then by page. You can leave any page out. Pages the rule leaves alone are counted with the reason, for example set by hand, the app can't see it, changed since the preview, or left out by you.
Undo
Every run can be undone. Undo puts each page back the way it was, unless someone changed it since, or unless the app can no longer read it; either way those pages are listed with the reason and left alone. Undoing a rule's run pauses the rule so it doesn't put things straight back.
Undo everything
Settings has "Undo everything this app did". It pauses every rule, puts pages back, and on pages people changed since, removes only the app's own entries. Type UNDO ALL to confirm.
Stop everything at once
"Pause all rules", at the top of the Rules tab, stops every rule and bulk change across the whole site, straight away. A red notice stays on every tab until you turn it off.
- On rules stop changing pages. Work already queued waits.
- Bulk changes can't be started.
- Watching rules keep recording what they would do, because they never change anything.
- Undo still runs, so you can put things back while everything else is stopped. Undo pauses the rules it touches, so turning the switch off won't let them put things straight back.
- Removing a rule waits too, and goes through when you turn the switch off.
